    29/04/2023: SHADOW

Our stimulus for this workshop was Wilfred Stephen's etchings. In particular we wanted to explore how the medium of etching and the spatiality of the piece could influence theatrical development.

We began by presenting the stimulus and some pre-written prompts to the practitioners involved. This led to a wider discussion of the themes and some stream-of-consciousness writing. From this we panned out to characterisation and storyline. The result of the workshop was an initial story outline for a hypothetical production covering themes such as religion, familial grief, and returning to your childhood town.

Practitioners involved - Maple Baker, Poppy Platt, Zachary Elliot-Jones, Kate Fraser, Andrew Hurrell, and Phil Saxby

An etching of the inside of a church with a dark archway leading to a large bright chapel area.
